Chennai, Sept 11:
Capping their nearly three-year-long love affair, celebrity Tamil film actors Surya and Jothika today entered into wedlock in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and members of the Tamil celluloid world.
Also present was Union IT and Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran. Nearly an hour after Karunanidhi and Maran left the venue, AIADMK supremo and former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa also visited and blessed the couple.
While Jothika sported a pink silk saree with gold border and wearing diamond rings and necklace, Surya was wearing pure white silk full shirt and dhoti.
Top film stars who attended the wedding included Rajinikanth, his wife and daughter, Kamal Haasan, Sathyaraj, Abbas and Prasanth.
Surya's father and popular actor of yesteryear Sivakumar and his family members were there to receive the guests.
On August 5, Sivakumar announced the wedding of Surya with Jothika ending speculations about their romance that were doing rounds in the Kollywood.
Jothika, daughter of Chander Sadanah, is also a cousin of another popular actress Nagma.
Coming together on screen for the first time in 'Poovellam Kettu Paar', the duo paired in about 10 films, including 'Uyirile Kalandadhu' and 'Kaaka Kakka'.
Surya with his success in 'Ghajini' had broken into the top five heroes category while Jothika's latest hit was Rajinikanth starrer 'Chandramukhi', a box-office hit.
Both have bagged several awards, including the best actor and actress award given by the Tamil Nadu government.
